Flowing Hatha Yoga is a practice that evolves from traditional Hatha Yoga. It is a gentle rejuvenating yet strengthening flowing yoga practice, that links traditional yoga postures dynamically, with breath, awareness & integrity. Building on strength throughout the whole body as well as balance and flexibility. This yoga style is known as a gentler yang style of yoga taught in a friendly, mindful & compassionate environment. This yoga class is suitable for all levels, but please do check with Tara for suitability.

The main qualities of Flowing Hatha Yoga are

“Sthira sukham asanam” The postures should be steady and comfortable.

Yoga Sutras 2.26

Yin Yoga is the perfect compliment to our yang styles of yoga practice. Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga, where postures are held anywhere between one to five minutes working on releasing the fascia and connective tissue. Yin yoga is a very passive approach to yoga where you perform the majority of the poses seated on the floor or laying down. When practicing yin yoga your muscles need to be relaxed as opposed to engaged, this is so you can work into the deeper layers of the body. Here are just some of the benefits.

  • Lubrication and protection of joints.
  • Calming and balancing for the mind.
  • Relaxation
  • Stress reduction and ability to release anxiety.
  • Improves flexibility & mobility.
  • Release of fascia throughout the body.

What is Yoga Nidra? Yoga means to unite with your true self. The Sanskrit word  “Nidra” means sleep. At the basic level of Yoga Nidra, the alpha wavelength of the brain is increased and promotes healing. This approach of  Yoga Nidra is based on the technique of Swami Satchidananda. One hour of effective Yoga Nidra is equal to 4 hours of normal sleep.Yoga Nidra can help manage stress, anxiety, disease, depression, trauma, jet lag and insomnia. Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, is a deep relaxation technique that takes the practitioner into a state of conscious sleep where the body is completely relaxed, yet the mind remains awake and alert. The practitioner is led through a sequence of verbal instructions incorporating a series of breath, body, and awareness techniques. Yoga Nidra is usually practiced lying down in savasana, but can be done in a supported seated position. The date for my Yoga Nidra is announced monthly, if you would like to be notified of my next session please do contact me.

For all classes please bring your own yoga mat all other props will be provided.

I do ask that all students fill out a health questionnaire so that I am able to design a suitable yoga sequence for all students. Please follow the link here to email me your answers. Please do this at least 24hrs before your first class.

Please bring water with you and wear comfortable gym clothing. You may want to bring a sweatshirt and some socks to wear for relaxation.
